Shpella e Dragobisë (Bajram Curri's Cave)

An easy half-day walk from Dragobi to the karst cave where the Albanian national hero Bajram Curri made his last stand and died in 1925. Valbonë–Theth Hike over the Pass

The classic crossing of the Albanian Alps and one of the most famous day hikes in the Balkans. The trail climbs from the valley floor to the Valbona Pass at around 1,800 m, with sweeping views of the Accursed Mountains, before descending into the neighbouring Valbonë valley. Most walkers do it in one long day, often with a guesthouse pick-up at either end.

Blue Eye of Theth Hike

A there-and-back hike down the valley to the Blue Eye of Theth, a vivid blue spring pool fed by mountain water and framed by small waterfalls. The route follows the gorge past Nderlysa and climbs through forest to the pool, a rewarding half- to full-day walk depending on where you start.

Peaks of the Balkans Trail

The long-distance Peaks of the Balkans trail loops across the borders of Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro, and Theth is one of its key stages. Even if you are not walking the full circuit, the sections around the valley offer some of the finest high-mountain hiking in the region, best tackled with a guide and the right permits.

Maja e Harapit (Arapi Peak) Ascent

The most demanding day out from Theth — a steep, exposed scramble up Maja e Harapit, the sheer horn of rock that rises above the valley to around 2,220 m and carries one of the highest rock faces in the Balkans. The route climbs past the Peja Pass before a rough, hands-on final push to the summit and its huge panorama over the Accursed Mountains. Serious mountain terrain; most walkers take a local guide.

Zâ Fest

Early–mid August (annual)

It gathers Albanian and international musicians for folk-rooted concerts and performances on open-air mountain stages under the stars, alongside local food and highland traditions. Dates shift year to year (the 2026 edition is set for the second week of August), so check the festival's channels before planning around it.

A duhet të rezervoj guidë paraprakisht?+
