Theth Map — FAQ
How do you get around Theth?+
On foot. Theth is a scattered mountain village strung along a glacial valley, and its sights are linked by walking and hiking trails rather than streets. The church and village centre are an easy stroll; reaching Grunas Waterfall, the Blue Eye or the Valbona Pass means a proper hike, so plan around your fitness and the daylight.
Where is the centre of Theth?+
The heart of the village is around the stone church, with family guesthouses spread through the valley and out into hamlets such as Gjelaj and Nderlysa. There is no urban core — most of what is plotted on this map sits along the valley floor and the trails leading up from it.
Do you need a car in Theth?+
Not within the village — everything is reached on foot or on the trails. A car (or a seat in a furgon) matters for getting to Theth in the first place, over the winding mountain road from Shkodër, and for exploring the wider Albanian Alps.
How do I get to Theth?+
Theth is reached from Shkodër, about 70 km and roughly 2.5–3.5 hours over a winding mountain road. Daily minibuses (furgons) run from Shkodër in the warmer months, or you can drive. The nearest airport is Tirana, about 1.5–2 hours from Shkodër.
