Blue Eye of Theth

Përditësuar 2026Verifikuar në këmbëDown the valley near Nderlysa, Theth

The Blue Eye of Theth is a vivid blue-and-turquoise spring pool fed by a small waterfall, set deep in a forested gorge down the valley near Nderlysa. The cold, startlingly clear water is the reward at the end of one of the valley's classic walks.

Historia

Si lindi

The pool is a karst spring, coloured by the depth and clarity of the water welling up through the rock — a different place from the better-known Blue Eye near Sarandë in southern Albania. It sits along the Black River drainage reached from the hamlet of Nderlysa.

Çfarë do të shihni

Gjatë vizitës

The intensely blue pool, the little waterfall that feeds it, and the clear stream running through the gorge. Some visitors brave a swim in the icy water, and the forested walk in is part of the experience.

Si ta vizitoni

Reached on a longer hike up the gorge from the Nderlysa area on rough mountain paths; allow a good part of the day and carry water and sturdy shoes.

Mirë të dihet

No. This is a separate spring pool in the Theth valley in the Albanian Alps, not the better-known Blue Eye of southern Albania near Sarandë.

Some visitors do, but the spring water is very cold year-round, so most just admire the colour and dip their feet.
